Most skin types. Men and women, 18 years and over. Laser hair removal is especially suited to pigmented hair. Blonde, white, light grey and light red coloured hair will not respond to treatment.
Rose Brown Advenced Laser Clinic recommends a minimum of 6 treatments to achieve desired level of hair reduction with top-up treatments perhaps once or twice a year thereafter. This will vary from person to person.
Almost anywhere, apart from around the eye and very sensitive areas. If unsure, please ask.
Rose Brown Advenced Laser Clinic recommends shaving or snipping. Avoid plucking, waxing, threading and bleaching. For optimal results from treatment the hair must remain in the follicle.
Laser hair removal feels like a "hot elastic band being flicked against the skin". Most patients tolerate the procedure because of the dynamic cooling system incorporated in the chilled tip. This provides topical relief during treatment. Small areas are treated very quickly (ie. the upper lip treatment takes only 5 minutes). Your laser nurse practitioner will actively cool area before you leave the clinic and issue you with appropriate after-care advice.
Following treatment, the skin will be red and there will be slight swellings around the hair follicles. These are desired clinical end points. Some people will experience mild blistering which if left alone should resolve normally. Sun exposure and laser treatment are incompatible and will increase the risks of scarring and pigment changes. There are no long term side effects from having laser treatment.
Immediately following each treatment, your nurse practitioner will cool and moisturize the area. You will be issued with an after-care advice sheet explaining the need to continue cooling and moisturizing post-treatment until skin returns to normal. You will also be advised if you have any concerns to contact the clinic and speak directly to the nurse practitioner.
